Westchester County phased out the use of most pesticides on all County properties effective 2002. However, some fungicides, herbicides and pesticides are still used on County golf courses in certain circumstances.

Protect your health and minimize your pesticide exposure while golfing.
Avoid the golf course areas sprayed with pesticides until the pesticide has dried. To find out about applications, call the golf starter before coming to the course. Application information is also posted on the first and tenth tees.
Avoid placing food, cigars and cigarettes on the ground.
Never place tees or golf balls in the mouth.
Wash hands and forearms at the end of a round or before eating. Request MSDS sheets from the golf course superintendent for further information about the chemicals applied.

Ardsley Country Club is located at North Mountain Drive, Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY 10503 in the beautiful Hudson River Valley and overlooking the Hudson River. From New York City, it is a quick commute 20 miles up the Saw Mill River Parkway to the rollling hills that surround the club. Originally designed by golf course archictect, Albert Zikorus, Canyon is now in a master plan phase with architect Ron Cutlip. The course has severe elevation changes on both nines with water present on five holes. Adding to these challenges are the long par threes and gently sloping and undulating greens.

Whippoorwill Club is located at 150 Whippoorwill Road, Armonk, New York 10504. The heritage and tradition of the Whippoorwill Club dates back to the mid 1920’s. In 1928, the course was redesigned by Charles Banks. Whippoorwill took on its most unique characteristics when holes 4 through 9 were built on the west side of Whippoorwill Road. Steep terrain, tree lined fairways, and no parallel holes characterized this section of the course. The five most difficult holes on the course are 5, 7, 9, 12 and 14. Charles Banks is credited with the design and remodeling of more than thirty golf courses from 1921 until his death in 1931. It is said that he believed Whippoorwill to be his masterpiece. Wampus Pond Park is located on 102 acres in Armonk, Westchester County. It is named after the Indian from whom this land was bought in 1696. Wampus Pond means “opossum". A recent cultural resources inventory performed by Parker Harrington indicates that early 20th century rock shelters, several Native American artifacts and remnants of historically significant residential developments were found within or near the park.
The natural pond, at one time known as Wampus Lake Reservoir, was once part of the New York City water supply. In 1963 the County bought Wampus pond and 93 acres from the City of New York.

The Bronx River Pathway is located within the Bronx River Reservation, an 807-acre linear park created as an adjunct to the construction of the Bronx River Parkway that was opened in 1925. The parkway, which has the distinction of being the first parkway in the nation, extends 13.2 miles in Westchester from the New York City line north to the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. The Pathway consists of three paved segments: a one-mile loop near Oak Street in Mount Vernon; a 3.6-mile section from Palmer Road in Bronxville north to Harney Road in Scarsdale and a 5-mile section extending from Green Acres Avenue in Hartsdale to Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
On Sundays during spring and autumn, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway closes to vehicular traffic for the county’s popular Bike & Skate Sundays program.

Pruyn Sanctuary Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden is located at 275 Millwood Road (Route 133), Chappaqua, NY. Pruyn Sanctuary is a demonstration garden within a six-acre native arboretum surrounded by a 92-acre parcel of protected open space. The garden features over 125 types of annual and perennial flowering plants selected to be food or nectar plants for butterflies, honey bees and hummingbirds. A drip pool attracts birds. Over 40 species of butterflies and moths, and three dozen species of birds are drawn to the garden.
The garden is within the four acre Pruyn Arboretum and meadow that has over 40 species of labeled trees and shrubs. A map and plant list of the arboretum is available. The Pruyn Garden is specially designed and maintained as a habitat to attract, nourish and shelter a variety of butterflies and moths, and ruby-throated hummingbirds. Saw Mill River Audubon is a local organization with 800 members from twenty communities in Westchester County, New York. Teatown Lake Reservation is a regional environmental organization with an 834-acre nature preserve and education center located in the towns of Yorktown, Cortlandt, and New Castle, New York. In addition to being the largest non-profit nature preserve in New York's Westchester County, Teatown is rapidly developing a reputation as the "Hudson Hills and Highlands" foremost environmental organization, providing ecological and biodiversity conservation leadership in this bioregion.
The Hudson Hills and Highlands is roughly bounded by the Hudson River watershed as it traverses the hills and highlands that run along the Hudson River Valley, from Yonkers in the south to the north at Beacon and Newburgh, New York. The bioregion covers parts of five Hudson Valley counties: Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland and Orange. However, nearly 80% of the region lies in Westchester and Putnam County. Visit Wildflower Island. A two-acre wildflower sanctuary, home to hundreds of native and endangered species of wildflowers. The Cross River Reservoir is located in northeastern Westchester County, about one mile east of the Village of Katonah and approximately 25 miles north of New York City. It is located within the towns of Bedford and Lewisboro. The Cross River Reservoir was formed by the damming of the Cross River and was placed into service in 1908. It is part of New York City's water supply system.

The Trailside Nature Museum, established in 1937, is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States. The museum is home to a large collection of mounted animals, American Indian artifacts, educational exhibits, child-friendly interactive displays, and nature-oriented artwork. The museum hosts thousands of school children and scouts each year for a variety of educational programs including stream study, American Indian culture, maple sugaring, and badge work. Family-oriented nature programs are scheduled for the general public on nearly every weekend.
The Trailside Nature Museum is also the home of the Delaware Indian Research Center, a vast collection of books and artifacts concerning American Indians, especially the Delaware. The Research Center is well utilized by both students and educators and has assisted several authors in researching their publications. The Research Center is open to the public by appointment.
The Trailside Nature Museum is located at the 4,700-acre Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, the county’s largest park. Park terrain is extremely varied, ranging from deep hollows to ridges that rise up more than 800 feet. There are hemlock gorges, dry uplands, wetlands, ponds, and two rivers, all connected by 35 miles of trails. Many of the old farm roads are now used as hiking and cross-country ski trails, and other signs of the old farms exist in the form of stonewalls, foundations and cellar pits.
Point of Interest: Directly outside the Trailside Nature Museum, there is a one-half acre wildflower garden containing more than 80 different kinds of labeled wildflowers.
The 4,700-acre park makes Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Westchester County’s largest park. With its varied terrain and landscapes and miles of wooded trails the park provides a variety of activities in all seasons. There are areas for picnicking, lean-to camping, fishing and cross-country skiing. The park is home to the Trailside Nature Museum, which hosts weekend nature interpretive programs year-round.

Croton Gorge Park is a 97acre property at the base of the Croton Dam, and affords impressive views of the dam and spillway. The park is a popular spot for fishing, picnicking and hiking, with direct trail access to New York State’s Old Croton Aqueduct. The park is also available in winter for cross-country skiing and sledding.
Brinton Brook Sanctuary is located in Croton-on-Hudson, in the beautiful Hudson River Valley, Westchester County, NY. Brinton Brook Sanctuary offers three miles of hiking trails through a wide variety of habitats. The trails of Brinton Brook Sanctuary connect to the Highland Trail, part of the Croton-on-Hudson village trail system. Brinton Brook is a good place to enjoy hiking, birding, wildflowers and scenic vistas. Brinton Brook is our largest sanctuary and was the first managed by Saw Mill River Audubon. Management rights to an additional 27 acres were obtained from the Village of Croton-on-Hudson in 1998 raising the total area to 156 acres. The Croton Point Nature Center and Discovery Trail are located in the 504-acre Croton Point Park, which is situated on the largest peninsula of the Hudson River in Croton-on-Hudson. The scenic discovery trail winds its way through the park, enabling visitors to explore the Croton Point's many plant and wildlife species, including painted turtles and a variety of frogs, as well as its unique historical features.
The Croton Point Nature Center located on the northwest tip of the park, displays exhibits about the Hudson River, local history, flora and fauna, and archeology. The center hosts weekly programs, including nature walks, presentation on area history, and arts and crafts workshops. The center is also the headquarters for the Material Archives and Laboratory for Archaeology.
There are four miles of Hudson River shoreline to explore. The park, which also winter Bald Eagles, is an Important Bird Area (IBA). A capped landfill is now a vast meadow abundant in species of birds and butterflies. The park's historical structures have been designated as a historic district.

Croton Point Park is a 508 acre park. This park offers year-round events and activities. including camping, hiking and swimming. Also, home of wine cellars, thought to be the oldest in NY and The Croton Point Nature Center which offers a year-round schedule of interpretive programs.

Hudson National Golf Club is located at 40 Arrowcrest Drive, Croton on Hudson, NY 10520 in the Hudson River Valley. The fairway bunkers are strategically placed with steep vertical faces while the greenside bunkers are nestled closely to the putting surface. The Rotten Core Manor Haunted House is a popular event for all. Please no children under 5 years of age.
We have many inflatable bouncers for the kids at Barton Orchards. There is a separate bounce area for the younger kids.

The petting zoo features a pony, pigs, and rabbits, There are also Emus and many birds to check out.
Chester Heights Park located at Oregon Avenue in Eastchester is a five-acre park. Park contains a softball field, a basketball court and a state of the art playground.

Joyce Road Park located at Joyce Road in Eastchester has a small playfield, climbing apparatus, benches and a sandbox on this two-thirds of an acre. A climbing structure and additional benches have been added.
Leewood Park located on Leewood Drive in Eastchester has six all-weather tennis courts and two paddle tennis courts. Permits for tennis and paddle tennis are available at the Recreation and Parks office. There is also a basketball court, outdoor volleyball courts, an official horseshoe court and tennis backboard. The ballfield and playground were recently renovated and enlarged.
The Town of Eastchester's Lake Isle is a town owned recreational facility situated on White Plains Road in the heart of Eastchester. The Town purchased the 116 acre former private club site in 1979. Additional pools and tennis courts were added prior to opening. Attractive and affordable golfing, swimming, and tennis are available on a seasonal basis. In addition, Lake Isle provides a host of other recreational activities, special events and instructional opportunities for all to enjoy. Both snack bar and more elegant terrace luncheon services overlooking the main pool complex are also provided.
Golf Course Lake Isle offers you a challenging 18-hole championship golf course and nearly year round play. A fleet of over 70 power golf carts is in readiness. Our capable P.G.A. Golf Pro/Director oversees golfing activities. Both Pro and staff are available to answer your golf related questions. Expert individual and group instruction is available. The finest in golfing equipment and apparel, as well as golf club cleaning, repair, and storage are offered at the Lake Isle Golf Shop.
Twin Lakes Park & Nature Study is located at California Road, Eastchester, New York. Twin Lakes Park & Nature Study offers a wooded nature study area with several trails.
Twin Lakes Park was named after the two lakes on the property. The property used to belong to the Mahlsted family and included an ice house. The park contains mostly wooded areas but there are also fields and marshlands and several ponds. Two stables hire out horses for riding on existing bridle trails.
Shawangunk Country Club, opened in 1918, is located at 38 Country Club Road, Ellenville, NY 12428. Shawangunk golf course has a 9-hole regulation golf course. The course rating is 69.1 with a slope rating of 122.

The Garrison Golf Club is located at 2015 Route 9 Old Albany Post Road, Garrison, New York 10524 in Putnam Valley. The Garrison Golf Club offers a spectacular setting that overlooks the Hudson River in the Hudson Highlands and Catskill Mountains. Garrison Golf Club is part of a riverview resort, yet offers a championship course.
Few courses in the country are favored with as lovely a setting as Garrison's. The front nine are close fitting, with restless shifts in terrain.
