Town of Rye
The Town of Rye, incorporated in 1788, is a total of 7.4 square miles. The Town of Rye is comprised of two discontiguous areas; with the City of Rye separating the Village of Mamaroneck to the south, from the villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook to the north and northeast. A part of Mamaroneck lies partially in the Town of Rye and is known as Rye Neck. The Town of Rye should not be confused with the City of Rye. Rye Brook and Port Chester border Connecticut to the east; and the Long Island Sound to the south.

"The Town of Rye and Villages of Rye Brook, Port Chester, and Mamaroneck jointly received a Local Government Efficiency Grant from the NYS Department of State to study governance and service options for the community. Among the options being explored are dissolution of the Town of Rye and the creation of coterminous town/villages in Port Chester and Rye Brook. The goal is to inform decisions about the most efficient way to govern and most cost effective way to deliver municipal services in the future." by Town of Rye Study
